SEIU PA Congratulates Its Own Roni Green on Victory in House District 190

Philadelphia — SEIU members and leaders joined in congratulating one of its own, former SEIU Local 668 Business Agent Roni Green, for her victory in the House District 190 Special Election.

“There is no better way to rewrite the rules for working people than to make sure that working people are writing the rules to begin with,” said Steve Catanese, President of SEIU Local 668. “We are so proud to send Representative-Elect Roni Green to Harrisburg, where we know she will fight every day to make sure that every Pennsylvanian, no matter where they come from or whether they are black, white or brown, can join or form a union.”

Roni Green has been an integral part of the SEIU family for more than 30 years, as a member, business agent, and Secretary-Treasurer of SEIU Local 668. As a Representative of House District 190, she will be the voice of a district with one of the highest percentages of SEIU members in the state.

“When we get to send union members and leaders, especially SEIU members and leaders, to Harrisburg, we’re on the road to ending the stranglehold that anti-union politicians have held over Pennsylvania state government for far too long,” said Gabe Morgan, President of the SEIU Pennsylvania State Council and Vice President of SEIU Local 32BJ.

Roni’s election to the Statehouse is part of SEIU’s Unions for All strategy, a long-term effort to restore the balance of power in Harrisburg to working people, and to demand that pro-union politicians are using every tool at their disposal to help working people win their union.
